The renowned Egyptian actor Mostafa Fahmy, aged 82, passed away early on Wednesday morning after a brief struggle with illness, as reported by Egypt's official Middle East News Agency.
His family, including his brother, famed actor Hussein Fahmy, is expected to announce details regarding his funeral and condolences in the coming hours.
Mostafa Fahmy underwent delicate brain surgery in August, which he initially recovered from before experiencing a decline in health in recent weeks.
A Legacy in Cinema and Television
He began his cinematic journey as a film photographer, contributing to notable films such as Al-Naddaha, Amira Hobi Ana, Jens...Na'em, and Al-Kaddab. His transition to acting came when director Atef Salem persuaded him to act in Ayn Aqly ("Where is My Mind?"), marking the start of a prolific acting career.
Fahmy starred in numerous well-loved films, including Face to Face, Liman Tashruq Al-Shams ("For Whom the Sun Rises"), Love in the ICU, and Moued Ma'a Al-Qadr ("Appointment with Fate"). On television, he gained popularity through series like Al-Qudban, Inni Khai'fa ("I Am Afraid"), The Man I Love, Tears in Fierce Eyes, Hayat Al-Jawhari ("The Life of Al-Jawhari"), and The Heart Sometimes Makes Mistakes.
He also dabbled in television presenting, co-hosting the program Abyad wa Aswad ("Black and White") with Maha Osman on Egyptian television.

Egypt's Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hano, expressed his condolences, describing Fahmy as "one of the most significant creators who dedicated his work to meaningful art that reflects our societal issues."
The Cairo International Film Festival, the Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate, and numerous artists such as writer Ibrahim Abdel Meguid, actor Karim Abdel Aziz, and Tunisian actress Hend Sabry also mourned his passing.
