She expressed her deep sorrow for his loss, affirming her acceptance of God's will by saying, "I thank and praise God, accepting His decree.
My comfort is in knowing this world is fleeting, and each of us will leave it in our destined time."

Shams El-Baroudy and Hassan Youssef married in 1972, sharing over five decades together. They starred in several films together, including A Journey of Love and And There Was Love, before El-Baroudy decided to retire from acting and don the hijab in the mid-1980s.
